Howard Caro is an Operating Partner at 1955 Capital where he is responsible for overseeing general administration, legal operations, and fund formation.
Howard has broad experience at prominent Silicon Valley venture capital firms as an Operating Partner, General Counsel, and lead in strategic investment & fundraising, including as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel at The Founders Fund, a leading venture capital fund with more than $2B under management. His expertise includes fund formation, fundraising, overseeing legal, finance and operations, portfolio management and crafting and closing primary and secondary venture capital and private equity transactions. His investment experience includes seed- to late-stage venture capital securities offerings and secondary tender programs.
Howard has also managed regulatory compliance and firm operations in venture capital and financial services firms, and has advised companies and boards with respect to IPOs and M&A exits. Howard began his career as a partner at two global law firms, Heller Ehrman and Hogan Lovells, with practices including general corporate matters, venture capital general partner organization and structure, corporate governance and strategic advice and securities litigation defense.
Howard holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Stanford University and a Doctorate in Law from Columbia University School of Law.
